SUPER WRITERS

THE SQUIRREL IN THE TREES

The squirrel climbed up the trees because he wanted to get some nuts to eat for dinner.
By Ruby

The squirrel went to the forest and the squirrel climbed up the tree and said,
"I'm the king of the tree."
And he got down.
By Brooke

One cloudy day there was a squirrel.  He was brown and white.  He was very hungry.  He jumped in te middle of two trees so he could see further.  He looked to the right and the left.  He couldn't find any food.  He sadly walked back home and he saw nuts.  Then he ate them all up.  He went to sleep after the big walk.

"Help!  Help!" said the smart cookie named Squirrel because a Hunter was trying to catch him.  "Come back you filthy little squirrel".
"If you think you can catch me then come and try".
"Stop!" said the Hunter.  "I'm not finished with you".
"I'll bite you on the bum if you try and shoot me".
"Ahhhhh" screamed the Hunter.  The hunter ran out of the forest.  But half way he got lost.  He tried and tried to call for help but no one could hear him.  "Help" he said again.  He stayed in the forest for so long he was still in the forest at night.

WRITING - LION ON STILTS

One time an angry lion was walking to a tall and enormous giraffe and then the lion tried to attack the giraffe so the giraffe started to kick the lion away.  The lion said "I am going to beat you".  But the giraffe said "I will too".  But the angry lion tried to beat the giraffe but the giraffe bet the angry mean lion.
By Kaito

One sunny day I drove to the zoo.  The yellow sun glittered in the blue fresh water.  Then I saw a proud lion on some stilts and I even saw a proud ten foot tall spotty giraffe with his family, ready to do for some fun.  "Wow" said the giraffe.  He lived happily ever after.
By Fai'ana

A made lion on stilts saw a giraffe going for a walk.  The lion had a brown furry mane.  The lion jumped off the stilts and attacked him.

MATHS - WORKSHOP 4

Look at these happy mathematicians...

They are learning to read numbers up to 1000.

The reason they are smiling is because they CAN do it!

Hooray!

OPT IN ART WORKSHOP - SWAN PRINCESSES AND PRINCES

On Friday, we made Swam princesses and princes.  We had to listen very carefully so that we could follow the instructions carefully.

We used a template to draw the swan then we added in our own creative ideas for the background.

We are thrilled with how well they came out!

On Monday, we wrote about our swans...

One day a lovely prince was born but an ugly sorcerer didn’t like his arrival so… he did a spell on him. That only a kiss could reverse it.

He made some swan friends because the spell was that he would go back and forth between human and swan.

By Oliver

It was fun doing the swans.  I did a swan picture because I thought it will be fun so I picked it.

By Ruby

On Friday me and the other kids were making Swan Princesses.  Then we coloured them in with ink.  These were the colours.  They were red, yellow and orange.  When they were done, we went to lunch.

By Ava Rose

I went to the pond with my Mum and myself to see the swan pond.  We saw the swan pond and I smiled.

By Maddy

At school in the afternoon the kids made pretty swans but only the kids who signed up.  We drew on some cut out pieces of paper.  One was a swan and one was a cool wing.  We dyed them with really cool colours like green and blue.  There was a really cool way to do the sky.
Step one: get a brush and wet it.  Good.
Step two: Put it on the paper and that is it.

Then we put the colours on the paper.

One day a beautiful swan was swimming in the river and I was watching it.  I was looking at it swimming away.  When I looked back at it, it was gone.  So me and my family went back home.

Once upon a time there lived a pretty princess named Mrs Kenyon.  She lived in a castle made out of candy.  Even her bed was made out of candy.  Her dress was red and sparkly and her favourite thing in the world was... candy of course!  Her castle was rainbow coloured and it had a butterfly on top.

One day I saw a swan princess and I got to paint the swan princess.  It has a crown and it has wings.

By Holly P

The swan princess is cute and here is how you make it.  Put on the swan princess and you draw the feathers.  We did the swan princess and it looked pretty cool.  She was so pretty and good.  Mine was super pretty.

RICH MATHS TASKS

Down in the Jungle Mrs Kenyon completes rich maths tasks and problem solving with us.
This week we were given 6 numbers and an answer.  We had to work out what 3 numbers gave us the correct answer.

The tricky thing is, there's more than one answer.  We have to preserve to get all 3 answers.
It's tough working as a group.  It's tough to get the right answer.

COOKING - CHOCOLATE CAKE

Today the cooking group made chocolate cake.

We all took turns using the electric mixer.
It was delicious!

FRIDAY FUN DAY

On Friday we do art and baking.  We don't do Reading or Maths.
I love Fridays!
By Charlie

Today Mrs Lunn made smoothies with some of our kids.  We had to bring some fruit to school to use as our ingredients.  The kids in this group were all really kind and they decided to share their fruit.  First they had to cut the fruit up into smaller pieces.  They had to be very careful with the knife!

Jacob noticed the capacity measurements on the side...

The kids each had a turn at making their smoothie...

Samantha and Ruby were very excited to make their smoothies...

How did they taste? You might ask.
DELICIOUS!!!

WRITER OF THE DAY

Well done Lloyd on your awesome writing today.
The teachers are so proud of you!

Lloyd has been working on using the looking word card to help him spell words correctly.
He has definitely been meeting his learning goal.
Good on you Lloyd!

AMON IS FAMOUS!

Look at this!!!

Amon is in the newspaper!

KO WAI KOE? - WHO ARE YOU?

We had a great time learning Te Reo with Pa Jack today.
We learnt how to ask 'who are you?'
Mrs Lunn had made a slideshow with different animals on it.  We got to pretend to be those animals and answer who we were.
Mrs Lunn even put in a slide for Ollie.
He loves Beauden Barrett so he got to pretend to be him today.  It was pretty cool.

Next we had an activity to do.  We needed to colour in the animals and match them with the correct speech bubble.

Ethan and Oliver - what lovely smiles!

Guy and Mason enjoying their work

Some of us finished quickly so we were able to draw another animal off the slideshow in our books.  The teachers were so impressed with us that they took photos of our work to share with you.
