RAPUNZEL - BY MADDY

Once upon a time there lived a little a couple and they wanted a child.  One day the wife said, "I want some lettuce form the Witch's garden.  Please can you get me some." The husband said "Yes."  So he did. But when he got a lettuce the Witch said, "Moia-ha-ha!  I've got you now!"  The man said "My wife said to me that she wanted some lettuce from your garden."

"Fine.  Your wife can have as much lettuce as she wants,: said the Witch.  "But when the baby is born, you must give it to me.  Waa-ha-ha!" cackled the Witch and off she went.  The husband didn't really hear what the witch said.  He was worried.  The husband told the wife that she could have as much lettuce as she wanted.

The day the baby was born, the Witch snuck up slowly.  The wife said, "GO!"  but when the couple walked quietly away, the witch flew out of her hiding place and said, "Now you have to give her to me!"

The wife cried.  "Please don't!"  But the Witch already had left.  The wife cried again and again.  The wife cried all day long.  She never stopped crying.

The Witch locked Rapunzel in a tower in the woods.  The Witch visited Rapunzel every night.

One day, a Prince heard Rapunzel heard singing.  He said, "Follow that voice.  Find that girl!"  The men searched the woods.  They could not find the girl.  The Prince heard the singing coming from the tall tower.  He waited all night then the witch came and said, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel.  Let down your hair."  Rapunzel did.  The Witch climbed and climbed and then the big old mean Witch climbed down the big tower.  Then the big mean Witch said, "I will be back at 1pm."

The Prince came and rescued Rapunzel from the tower.  He took Rapunzel back to the Kingdom.  At 1pm the Witch came to the tall tower and said "Rapunzel, Rapunzel.  Let down your hair."  But she was getting married at the Kingdom and they all lived happily ever after.

THREE LITTLE PIGS - BY LAYLA B

Once upon a time there lived three little pigs.  One day the mother pig said, "you guys are old enough to find your destiny and you will have to make your own cottage."

The First Little Pig built a house out of straw.  Suddenly the Big Bad Wolf came and blew his house down.  The Second Little Pig built a house of sticks.  Then the Big Bad Wolf blew the Pig's house down.  The next Little Pig built his house out of bricks.  Then the Big Bad Wolf came and blew and blew but the house didn't blow down.  The Wolf had an idea.  He climbed up in the chimney.  He burnt his tail and they lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time, there lived three little pigs.  They lived in a cottage with their mother.  One day their mother said, "You must leave and make your house somewhere in the wood."  So the pigs moved out.

The First Little Pig made his house out of straw.  The Second Pig made his house out of sticks.  Lastl but not least, the oldest had a different idea.  He didn't make out of straw or stiks.  He made his house of bricks.  Close by the Wolf was spying on the pigs while they were playing.  Suddenly, the Wolf appeared and said, "Little Pig!  Little Pig!  Let me come in!"  but the Little pig said, "No!  Not by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin!" 
"Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house down!" said the Wolf.  And he did.

The First Little Pig ran as fast as he could to his brother's house. 
Knock, knock!
"Who's there?" asked the Second Little Pig.
""ME! Your little brother.  The wolf is chasing me!"
"OK come in." said the Second Pig.

Behind a bush, the Wolf was surrprised to see two pigs.  "Quick," said the pigs.  "Get in the house!"  The Wolf knocked on the door and said,
"Little Pig, Little Pig! Let me in!" said the Wolf.  The Little Pig said, "Not by the hair on my chinny-chin-chin!" 
"Then I'll huff and I'll puff and I'll blow your house in," said the Wolf.  And he did.

"Run, run!" said the Pigs and they ran to their big brother's house. 
Knock, knock!
"Who's there?" asked the Third Little Pig.
"Us!  Your little brothers." 
"OK come in,"  he replied
"The Wolf is chasing us!"
"Little pig, little pig!  Let me come in!" called the Wolf
"It's the Wolf!  Quick hide!"  said the pigs.
"Answer me!" shouted the Wolf.  "The door is locked!  OK I will climb through the chimney."

The pigs had an idea.  "Let's boil the water in the fire, before the Wolf gets in!"
"OK, boil it!"

"OUCH!" said the Wolf and he ran home and they live happily ever after!

CINDERELLA STORY - BY AVA T

Ava had been working on this amazing piece of writing of a few weeks now...

Once upon a time there lived three mean sisters and a young girl called Cinderella.  She had to do all the work because her mean sisters told her want to do.  One day they got a letter from the prince to go to the Ball.  They all were excited to go. 
Cinderella said "Can I come?"  but her mean sisters said "No, you can't.  Only us." 
Cinderella cried with sadness.  She wished that she could go. 

Suddenly in a cloud of smoke, a Fairy Godmother came. 
She said, "Did someone say wish?"
Cinderella said, "Who are you?" 
The Fairy Godmother said, "I am your Fairy Godmother, darling." 
"Can you help me?  I want to go to the Ball."  Cinderella asked.
"OK," said the Fairy Godmother.  With a tip of her wand she had a beautiful dress which has light blue sparkles that looked like stars.

No one at the Ball noticed that it was Cinderella.  So she went to the Prince's Ball in a carridge that actually made from a pumpkin.  Meanwhile, she got there just in time for the Prince to decide who he wanted to marry.  The Prince decided he wanted to marry Cinderella.  Cinderella was so happy, but it was midnight.  She ran as fast as she could but when she got to the end of the stairs the magic came off so she ran home. 

Cinderella had left her shoes.  The Prince was so sad that he couldn't even know her name.  So he had an idea.  It was to go to everyone's house and tell them to put on her shoe.  If it fits it would be her.  Then off he went.  When he got to the last house there was Cinderella.  Cinderella put on the shoe and it fitted!  Everyone was happy.  The Prince said, "What is your name?" 
Cinderella said, "My name is Cinderella."  Then the Prince and Cinderella got married and they lived happily ever after.

THE TORTOISE & THE HARE CHALLENGE

Today we were challenged to find a way to make a Tortoise travel faster.  We didn't have a Tortoise to check our inventions but Mrs Kenyon took two of the inventions home to try out on Herman the turtle.

 

Charlie made a wonderful car for Herman to travel in.  She found it tricky to get the wheels to move.  Herman only just fitted in the car and managed to make it fall over.  He's not a safe driver.  Maybe he needs a helmet?

 

Herman loved his rocket!  Once again though he didn't fit in it very well.  

Herman is bigger than we thought.

We watched a movie of the Hare and the Tortoise and wrote stories about it...

"On your marks, get set go!"  The rabbit bet the tortoise.  He took a nap.  The tortoise caught up and passed the rabbit.  The rabbit woke up.  He ran past the tortoise.  The rabbit came by some rabbits.  He started to be a showoff.  The tortoise passed the rabbit again.  He got distracted.  He played tennis and the tortoise won.  Slow and steady wins the race.  The rabbit wanted a remath so the did.

"Looks like I can bet you! YAY!" said the tortoise.

"A HUSKY AT THE BEACH" By Fai'ana

Once upon a time there was a husky called Snowflake.  She lived in the snow but one day a person from NZ took the husky to NZ and took her to the beach.  The husky got to hot so the husky barked at the person from NZ so he took the husky back to the snow.

Once upon a time there lived two lollies.  Once called Sprinkles the doughnut and another called Strawberry the Gummy Bear.  They went to bed and when they woke up they ended up in Cupcake Land where they met a cupcake called Raspberry.  Then they went for a little walk but they weren't looking where they were walking and fell straight into a lolly bush.  They started to tickle the bush's leaves and the lolly bush burped them out.

At 6pm today I was with my friend Flutter.  Flutter was a swallow.  We were looking for Bling Blong, the man of the jungle but we stepped on a trap door and ended up in a even darker forest.  He heard a voice that said "Are you lost?"  "Ssssssssttttthhhhhh".  Amon was scared but Flutter was tweeting with anger.  But the myseterious voice had captured Flutter.  Just then Bling Blong kicked the mysterious voice.  Suddenly Flutter started biting the .... witch!  There was a snake slithering away and the which was never seen or heard of again.  Flutter's name was famous.

CINDERELLA STORY - BY ELLIOT

Once upon a time there was a girl called Cinderella.  She had to do all of the jobs.  Then one day, an invitation arrived.   The stepsisters were bossy but they got invited.  Cinderella wanted to come bit she couldn't then... a Fairy Godmother came and she said "I can make you go to the Palace."  Just as she said it, Cinderella magically appeared in the Palace.  The stepsisters didn't even recognise her.  Cinderella forgot about her new clothes disappearing at midnight.  She ran down the stairs and the Prince ran down the stairs too.  She got her fancy clothes back and the Prince lived with Cinderella forever.  They lived happily ever after

Once upon a time there was a girl called Rapunzel and she got locked up in a tower.  Just then along came a Prince.  He climbed up Rapunzel's hair.  Then the witch came and she was horrified.  She sent Rapunzel to a far away land.  The witch tricked the Prince and he was blind.
He heard the music and he followed the music and he went into the desert... he found Rapunzel but he couldn't see Rapunzel.  Just then Rapunzel cried onto the Prince's eyes.  He wasn't blind anymore!  They fell in love.

Once upon a time there lived a Mum and a Father. The lady said "can you please get me some lettuce from the Witch's garden?" Suddenly the Witch came. "You must give me your baby... moihahaha!" The next day, she took the baby. She (the Witch) called the babu Rapunzel. She put her in a tall tower... near the tower lived a Prince. The Prince came to the bottom of the tower. He said, "Rapunzel, Rapunzel. Let down your golden hair." Rapunzel did what he said. Then the Witch came and said "Rapunzel, Rapunzel, let down your golden hair!" Rapunzel did. The Witch climbed Rapunzel's hair. The Witch cut her hair and sent Rapunzel to a far away land. The Prince climbed up her golden hair. The Witch dropped the hair. The Prince fell in the bush. Then the Prince heard Rapunzel singing. Sadly they found each other and cried happy tears. The became Queen and King and they lived happily ever after!

Once upon a time there was a scary tower and the witch was in there with Rapunzel.  This boy crept inside but luckily she had a pan to hit him with. BANG!

Once upon a time there lived a poor old man and an old woman.  The old woman wanted a baby so she told the old to get the witch’s lettuce.  The old man did what she said.

Suddenly the witch found out.  The old man said,

“The old woman wanted a baby, so she needs lettuce,”

The witch said, “When the new baby is born you have to bring her to me, moihahaha!”  Suddenly she disappeared. The old man told the old woman what the witch had said They all cried with sadness.  The old woman did not want to give the witch her baby.

Then they got an idea.   They left their home so the witch wouldn’t know where they are.  Suddenly a cloud of smoke appeared. The witch grabbed the baby. They disappeared into thin air.

The witch called the baby Rapunzel.  She locked her in a big tower for a long time.  She grew long, beautiful golden hair.

One day a prince cane to the tower.  He was looking for a princess to marry so they could be King and Queen.  He was trying to climb up the tower but he couldn’t get up. He was always dreaming who it could be.  

Then the witch came that night.  She said “Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your golden hair.”  Rapunzel did what she said.

One night the Prince sneakily spied on the tower.

Suddenly the Witch came and called, “Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your golden hair.”  The witch climbed up and only gave her some food. Then she left.

The Prince heard the Witch’s words.  The Prince said “Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your golden hair.”  Rapunzel didn’t know that is was the Prince. The Prince climbed up.  He said, “What is your name?” Rapunzel replied, “My name is Rapunzel.”  She was shy. They met. They already fell in love at first sight.

Every night and day, the Prince came to the tower but… when the Prince was there, the Witch saw the Prince.  The Witch banished Rapunzel to the desert.

The Prince didn’t know where Rapunzel was so he left.  The next day he came back to see if Rapunzel was back in her tower.  He forget that the Witch cut Rapunzel’s hair. He said “Rapunzel! Rapunzel! Let down your golden hair.” Rapunzel was not there.  The Witch taped Rapunzel’s hair to the tower. When the Prince climbed up the Witch un-taped it and the Prince fell in the thorn bush.  He couldn’t open his eyes, only with water.

He went to the desert.  He heard Rapunzel singing.  He followed the voice. He felt someone.  It was Rapunzel!

Rapunzel said, “oh no my Prince.  Your eyes are not open.” Rapunzel cried.  One of Rapunzel’s tears went on the Princes eyes.  It helped his eyes. He could see again! Then the Prince took Rapunzel to his castle and they got married.  They lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time there was a little baby.  Her name was Rapunzel. She got older and she had long hair.  She lived in a castle and it was tall and big.

One day the Witch saw the Prince was going inside and the Witch cut Rapunzel’s hair off.  She said, “do not cut my golden hair!” But the Witch did.

Then she got kicked into the desert.  Meanwhile the Prince climbed the tower and fell down into the thorns.  His eyes got pricked and he couldn’t see. He wandered into the desert where Rapunzel was.  They found each other. They lived happily ever after.

Once upon a time there was a Mum and a Dad and they wanted a little girl.  The Mum had to have lettuce. The Dad snuck over the fence and got one bit of lettuce and the Mum ate it but that was not enough for the Mum…

The Dad went back over the fence and the Witch caught him!  The Witch said to him, “Don’t steal my lettuce.”

Dad said to the Witch, “But my wife can’t live without it.”

“OK, you can get how ever much lettuce you want but when the baby is born, give me it.” replied the Witch.

The Dad went home.  When the baby was born the Witch put her in a tall tower for a long time.  

One day, a Prince heard Rapunzel’s voice and the Prince climbed the tower.  The Prince promised Rapunzel that every night he would come over.

One night, the Witch caught him.  The Witch sent Rapunzel far away and the Prince came back… and he climbed the tower and the Witch pushed him down and he was now a blind Prince until they found each other and they lived happily ever after.

Thank you for your letter.  We made inventions to get you safely down from your tower.  We hope the evil witch is not bothering you.  We just love your paintings.  They are as pretty as a butterfly.  You pet Pascalle is cute.

MAKE IT MONDAY - PENGUIN CHALLENGE

Make it Monday - By Zachary

Yesterday we had to make a penguin habitat.  Mine was creative.  My penguin habitat had an icy pool and the habitat had a door that opened and closed.  Next I thought about putting on a chimney.  Then I remembered to make a penguin so I made a penguin.

  

 

SCIENCE OPT-IN - COLOUR AND LIGHT

Today Mrs Lunn challenged us to make a rainbow using some different objects.  She gave us a mirror, a prism, a piece of white paper and a torch.  She said we might not need to use all the things she gave us... but it was up to us to see what combinations worked.  We WONDERED how we were going to do it!

There was HUGE excitement in Wonderland as we EXPLORED how to make rainbows.

Here's what we found out:

Mason - When Elliot was holding the prism, we aimed the flashlight at it and it made a really big rainbow

Parker - When we held the prism up to our eyes and tilted it we saw a gigantic rainbow and everyone we looked at looked like a rainbow

Keira - I thought it was quite cool, just like Parker said, when you had it on your eye that when I looked at our rainbow flags, the colours changed

Finn - Me and Quinn B put the prism on the edge and then shone the torch and it made a big rainbow

Jacob S - We put a mirror on the bottom and one on the top with prism on the bottom mirror and we put the torch at the prism and we could see a rainbow

Connor - I found out that me and Cruz could make a rainbow by putting a mirror on the bottom and putting the prism upside down.  We flashed the light and it made a rainbow.

In Science we were working with Mrs Lunn.  We were trying to make.  They were pretty hard and we used a torch ad a triangular prism and a mirror.

WICKED

Last night I went to Wicked at the Regent.  I saw Glinda and I had a popsicle.  It was the best show I have ever seen.  I got to meet Elphaba (Wicked Witch of the West),  Glinda (The Good Witch) and the Scarecrow at the end of the show.

TRAP THE WASP CHALLENGE

Amon, who we have previously met as a very Effective Communicator, came up with a wonderful idea for a challenge for Genius Hour on Friday.  After reading the book The Giant Jam Sandwich, he and his friend Skylah, challenged the children to come up with a way to trap the wasps.  But there was a twist - the children were NOT allowed to make a sandwich, like the people in the book did.

Clever Amon and Skylah read the book to the children as the HOOK, then they told them the success criteria they had come up with.

The children worked very hard problem solving, negotiating with their team mates, problem solving and working together to solve the problem.

I WISH...

Today we wrote stories starting with 'I wish...'  Here are a few of our favourite stories we'd like to share with you.

I wish I could be a fairy helping each of the other fairies on the screen.  I see the by lost a tooth!  So I take a lost tooth and put the $20 in there.
