Dear Parents and Caregivers
Welcome to Term Three! We have had a great start to the new term. The children have come back energised and ready to continue their learning. We have another busy term ahead. I just thought I would send you a quick update so you know what is going on...
Interviews:
Please remember to book in for School Interviews for next week. All the details are available on the School App or you can book in at the School Office.
Mondays:
Each Monday, we will be having 'Make it Monday'. This is a chance for the children to use their literacy and numeracy skills across other areas of the curriculum. You may have seen on the blog a few of the challenges we did at the end of last term. We will run 'Make it Monday' along those lines. We find the most beneficial way of teaching our children Te Ako Ritenga - our learning process.
Science:
This term the children will be opting into Science workshops. We are aiming to provide the children with lots of hands on experiments to encourage them to start thinking like scientist. We are starting with Animals, Magnets and 'Hubble Bubble'. If you have an area of science expertise and would be willing to share it with a group of kids, please let us know. We's love to have some experts in!
Cooking and Art :
Cooking and Art opt ins, will continue this term. The children have already signed up for what they want to do. We are very excited to be getting our very own oven in our kitchen!
100 days:
We have been counting the number of days we have been learning at school this year and on Monday, we will be 100 days smarter!
We will be holding Make it Monday with a Maths focus on the number 100. Parents are welcome to pop in during the morning part of the day to see how we celebrate being so smart!
You might like to send your child along on Monday with 100 things in a snap-lock bag or container. You could send 100 cotton balls, 100 toothpicks or 100 marbles. Be as creative as you and your child like! We find this is a great way for children to see that 100 doesn't always look the same size. 100 hundreds and thousands are certainly a lot smaller than 100 pieces of lego!
Blog:
Please keep checking out our class blog: piakorua2018.blogspot.com
We update it almost daily so you are kept in formed of what the kids get up to during the day.
Ariel:
Those that have paid to attend Ariel, we will be off to the Globe on Friday afternoon! The kids will love having a chance to see a real live show!
Thank you so much for your on-going support. We look forward to catching up with you soon.
Warmest regards
Jo
