EXPLORING THE BUSH

Mrs Kenyon's reading group got to explore the Riverdale School bush today and what an amazing adventure we had.

There were a lot of sticks for us to use to build huts.

Lots of interesting insects to look at.

Seeds and leaves galore.

What had a wonderful time and hope the rain stays away so we can go back tomorrow.

"Today Mrs Kenyon's reading group went behind the playground to look at some Tui's, trees and all sorts of things.  We saw brown spiky long sticks and yucky dirt on the floor with some soft green leaves.  There was also some garden tools, like shovels and a spade, to dig dirt out of the ground  There was also some bugs". By Ryla

"Today we went into a garden. We found willow trees and the sticks were spiky. WE found a lot of bugs and insects. We made two huts. I made a decoration on my hut. We found Tui's. The sticks were long and curly like a snake. For my hut I made a fake fire. I cooked some stuff but it isn't true. I found beautiful leaves like ferns. The garden was mysterious". By Kaito

"Today I went to the bush. There were amazing things to find like sharp sticks which felt like needles.  I even found a bug which had black and grey stripes. You can do lots of things in the bush like finding Tui's and damp and soft leaves. You don't just find little things in the garden. You can find big things in the garden too. I found a nest in the garden. It was so fun in the garden. Also we made a fort. The fort was so cool and we get to go tomorrow". By Amelia

"Today something exotic and ... exciting happened. To make it more exciting I found a black like coal Slater. I found a tree that I called the never ending staircase". By Oliver H

"Our reading group went to the mysterious forest but it wasn't scary but suddenly I saw a white tail spider. So I stomped on it but then I went deeper in to the forest and found lots of sticks and bugs. The bug I found was a cicada". By Jacob

"Today I thought we would go to the library but did we? No! No! No! We went into the dark forest. It was as dark as night. Then I looked up and what do you suppose I saw?  A huge tree.  It was damp, crocked and super old. I decided to call it the Womping Twillow, named after the Weeping Willow.  I decided to write a report about it but I didn't finish it. It was time to go but I had not finished my report about the Womping Twillow.  I wanted to write a report because I was not interested in bugs. I just don't know why. It's as confusing as a huge maze". By Amon

"My reading class went to the forest and I saw a stick that looked like a snake. I freaked out. Me, Harlem and Quinn built a hut with sticks. I found a spider. It had huge red eyes and it looked like a white tail". By Finn
